Having booked one of THE hippest shows around (The Rock & Shop Market), I set out to design a new display for bird + beau. I needed to utilize vertical space considering my display surface would be minimal and I needed to achieve a certain cool factor to hold my ground in this show full of awesome vendors.
I envisioned white logs with natural elements and small branch-like nubs to display necklaces. Serendipitously, a few rough cut logs from my favorite tree, which had fallen due to a lightning strike at our old house, had made the move to our new home. I rescued them from the fire pit for the better good.
My husband cut the logs to size and then I stripped them of their bark and sanded them each down. I painted the logs white, leaving the end surfaces natural.
Small portions of limbs were cut to serve as branch nubs for displaying necklaces. Each was cut to size, then sanded and stained or painted. I secured each nub in place with a hammer, nail, and glue.
Resting atop a faux fur rug, these organic log displays draw attention while letting the jewelry stand out.
The debut of this new display component has been a great success and has received many compliments (thank you!). I have personally been excited to share the story of these particular logs and I am so grateful to hear the kind words of customers and passersby. To me, they are the prettiest logs I ever did see.
Original log display design created using a little imagination and lots of elbow grease.
